What do we need in Winter? Warm, woolly felty necklaces and tiny worlds we can imagine ourselves inhabiting to get away from all the COLD!

A new range or brooch pins

Some new beads delivered the other day- couldn't resist using them for some new pins, larger, bolder and more adventurous. Featuring Indian glass beads, felt stars, shell buttons, polished seeds, coral, silver beads and anything else I could lay my hands on. A terrible distraction making these....sorting through the beads, putting them together to see what worked, choosing the buttons to sew on the stars...stayed up way too late and started again as soon as I woke this morning.

More pins, More decorations.

A rather surprising number have been sold, so more have been made....the hugely intimidating pile of blank felt shapes I had in September is no more.
Likewise the load of hat pin pins.Hurrah!

and here are some of the larger projects.....

It isn't just embroidered Christmas decorations,Hat pins and brooches that are keeping me busy, there are the larger projects.Currently two on the go: firstly, the Flowery Tree painting, the latest in a series of sketches and small paintings of trees, worked in acrylics on board and as yet, unfinished but becoming a quilt design in my head and soon, the sketchbook. Inspired by English carved chair backs and medieval metalwork and observations of trees. More on the second project tomorrow.....

pinathon

Been making pins and brooches like a mad woman. Here they are.
Housework?What housework?

Friday, 5 November 2010

I have decided to make some more complicated hat/shawl pins- this is the first experiment, using coral, millefoire beads and a felt heart embroidered with a shell button. Rather pleased with how it looks on my charity shop bargain pashmina.

This is the little display board for the lovely hairdresser in Hurley, Escultor, who are selling some of my festive gift tags and brooches ( I hope...). Still can't believe I had the courage to go there and sell my wares. I am also making shawl pins to take to the wool shop in Henley, pictures later.
Have to go and make more stuff now.
