Spring garden

On a warm still day the garden is full of perfume- hyacinths, violets, narcissi...all of them pouring out their gorgeous scents. Irresistible. The final photo is an indoor flower, the first of my Clivias grown from seed to bloom, some of them have taken three years to germinate and are only just shooting out their first leaves, then it is three more years to blooming size, so the first one to bloom is rather exciting.

Henley Create Weekend

Busy day at the sewing machine, meeting lots of lovely quilters!

Time is flying...April next week- how did that happen?

I realise we are suddenly three months into the year. This past couple of weeks I seem to have been running around like a maniac with no time to spare, but not achieving a huge amount!
The wool quilt is coming along nicely, first two rows all sashed together and waiting for me to complete the final row of 12" blocks and two small rows of 6" blocks.

I have been busy organising loads of my current class projects  for display in readiness for the Henley Create Festival this weekend, when I will be demonstrating at Lady Sew & Sew  and getting to grips with some new designs. This one is just in the first stages of being put together- a hanging, or if you make two, a long table runner. More pictures to follow as it progresses. Back to the stitching now- things to finish for tomorrow-YIKES!

Hand stitching time

Lots of projects on the go- some in my head still, some drawn up and some being made. The wool quilt continues- third flower panel finished, so now I can put that row together. One more row to go, all drawn up and ready to sew.

Catching up on the UFOs too, another Autumn Leaves block cushion that needed to be finished, I  had got thoroughly fed up with coming across it, half done. I get so guilty about unfinished projects...I really could not let myself get to Autumn this year and not have it finished to put on the sofa with its partner! Glorious Spring weather this weekend and I am sewing Autumn Leaves...

The Chicken...

Lousy photo as the light is fading- but this is the chicken that goes with yesterday's nest. A prototype Mug Mat for a 2 hour workshop.

Which came first? The Chicken or the Egg?

When I saw these fabrics on the Lady Sew and Sew website I just knew I wanted to make something with them.

Two prototype blocks started, the nest now modified to make it a bit less fiddly- wouldn't fancy making loads of them unless it was simpler. The chicken and eggs will be raw edged applique- chicken will be ready to show later today ( with luck). Got a plan for a simple lap quilt...watch this space...I am a sucker for fabric with chickens on...
